We’ve said hello again to the family’s favorite place, the
Tingko Beach in Alcoy, Cebu. Just recently, we went back to the beach and we’ve seen many improvements.
The convenient store where we used to buy our drinks and foods is under renovation. I’ve seen at least three videoke machines in the area, one in the convenient store and the other two on the cottages.
One great improvement of the place is the new Kai Manu Pointe Resort cottages. The cottages are still under construction. Each cottage is on the top of a big rock formation on the beach side.
I could still remember the first time I went to Tingko Beach on February 1999. We rented a cottage on top of that very same rock were the new cottage is put up. It was the first and the last time I’ve seen and occupied the cottage. When I went back on November 2000, the cottage was not there anymore. I’m glad they’re putting those cottages again. These provide great view of the beach. I climbed up (no, not really, there’s a stair to each cottage, lol!) on one of the cottages and took some photos.
When we went there, most of the cottages were occupied. There were a group or two of young people who stayed overnight. The other cottages were occupied by families.
It was a very hot day which only made the waters more enticing. Some played volleyball, some avoided the sun and stayed on their tent and cottages, and some lazily swayed on the swings.
You could still enjoy the waters at Tingko Beach for free, there’s no entrance fee. You’ll only need to pay for the cottages if you want to rent one. There are many cottages to choose from. Price range is from Php600 to Php1,000. When we had a family activity in Tingko Beach, we rented this beach house for a day for only Php600. It’s cheaper than the others because it’s a barangay beach house. Prices may change from time to time. For inquiries, you may contact Councilor Ricky Gonzales at 09182874023.
If you plan to visit Tingko Beach and you don’t know how to get there, just go to the South Bus Terminal and ride any bus (Ceres or Sunrays) heading for Bato or Oslob. If you’re still unsure, you could always ask the bus conductor if they will be passing by Alcoy and remind them to drop you at Tingko Beach in Daan Lungsod right after Guiwang, Alcoy.
Here are more photos I took during our short visit.
