It’s a new year once again. Whatever resolutions we make each year, these more often relate to how we think out to bring in a positive change and make our life better. This year, it would be a compassionate resolution to start green living. Let us Go Green this year! A small positive change at home could be a great start for a healthy living and we could start-off with our area rugs. We could make a big transformation to our home by improving its indoor air quality. Area rugs, if not eco-friendly, worsens the indoor air and could cause harmful effects on our health. Going for eco-friendly area rugs is very essential for good health. Naturally processed Jute Rugs and Bamboo Rugs are eco-friendly area rugs that are most recommended for a healthy home.
Why Jute Rugs and Bamboo Rugs are Eco-Friendly?
According to the Wikipedia, Jute is a long, soft, shiny vegetable fiber that can be spun into coarse, strong threads. It is one of the most affordable natural fibers and comes second to cotton in production and variation of uses for vegetable fibers.
Bamboo has natural antibacterial and antifungal qualities that help the plant fight off disease and insects. These properties come from a naturally occurring substance in bamboo called Kun. These qualities are not lost during processing or washing thus bamboo fabrics are able to retain these qualities and do not hold odors like some fabrics do.
Our health, our home’s health, and our family’s health are very important. To that end, Going Green is not an alternative anymore. Green goals are excellent and, if you’re new to green living, a great start is creating a healthy home by using eco-friendly Jute Rugs and Bamboo Rugs. Go Green and live healthy.

The only easy way I could think on how to keep our beds clean is to cover them with thick bed sheets and air or sun dry them on weekends. I should have done this from the day we purchased the beds and brought them home. Unfortunately, our bed sheets are thin and since we have kids at home, accidents do happen. I have not covered our beds enough to protect them from juice or milk spills and from awful vomits when my kids are sick. It does really help if we waterproof our beds especially when we have children at home.
If the sun is on its brightest on weekends, we put the beds outside to let them dry and remove the smell that stuck with them. True enough, after a day of sun drying, the beds are dry and the outdoor smell lingers. However, when we put them back on our room, the bad smell comes back and the stains are becoming slightly visible. I was considering about buying a vacuum cleaner but hubby insisted we buy new beds since our beds are already old and “smelly”. Now, I am starting to look for some bed designs and perhaps consider some rustic bedroom furniture. They would surely add a natural elegant touch to our bedroom. Of course, it still depends on our budget but I know I could find one that would suit my taste and fit our budget.
