Each one of us experience difficult times in our life — times when it feels like the storms of life are beating us that no matter how hard we try to fight them back, we can’t seem to make any progress and eventually become tired from carrying the heavy loads. It is during these times that we are often left helpless, alone and lost without the knowledge and power to overcome our difficulties. It is during these times that we think God is far from us and we feel that God has abandoned us.

Contrary to what we think and feel, God has always been with us. While we were so engrossed on desperately trying to handle the difficulties by ourselves, He was with us the whole time waiting for us to call for Him, to allow Him to enter our time of difficulty, and take away our burdens.

When we are going through difficult times and are getting tired from carrying the heavy loads, let us humble ourselves to God. As soon as we let God come into our life, the storms will cease. He is the only one who can deliver us from all of our difficulties. So what’s holding you back from allowing God to come into your life? You can receive Jesus Christ right now by faith through prayer.

Psalm 34:4
I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.

For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.

The Passion of the Christ

God loves you and offers a wonderful plan for you. But because of your sins, you are separated from God and could not experience His wonderful plan for your life. Though you have sinned, God gives you a chance to receive His love and experience the life He plans for you.

The Four Spiritual Laws

1. God loves you and offers a wonderful plan for your life.

God’s Love
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life”. (John 3:16)

God’s Plan
[Christ speaking] “I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly”. (John 10:10)

Why is it that most people are not experiencing that abundant life?

Because…

2. Man is sinful and separated from God. Therefore, he cannot know and experience God’s love and plan for his life.

Man is Sinful
“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. (Romans 3:23)

Man was created to have fellowship with God; but, because of his own stubborn self-will, he chose to go his own independent way and fellowship with God was broken. This self-will, characterized by an attitude of active rebellion or passive indifference, is an evidence of what the Bible calls sin.

Man is Separated
“For the wages of sin is death,” (Romans 6:23); “But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God,” (Isaiah 59:2).

3. Jesus Christ is God’s only provision for man’s sin. Through Him you can know and experience God’s love and plan for your life.

He Died In Our Place
“God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”. (Romans 5:8)

He Rose from the Dead
“Christ died for our sins… He was buried… He was raised on the third day, according to the Scriptures… He appeared to Peter, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred…” (1 Corinthians 15:3-6)

He Is the Only Way to God
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

It is not enough just to know these three laws…

4. We must individually receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord; then we can know and experience God’s love and plan for our lives.

We Must Receive Christ
“As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name” (John 1:12).

We Receive Christ through Faith
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9).

When We Receive Christ, We Experience a New Birth
John 3:1-8

Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him.”
In reply Jesus declared, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”

“How can a man be born when he is old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb to be born!”

Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

We Receive Christ through Personal Invitation
[Christ speaking] “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.” (Revelation 3:20).

Receiving Christ involves turning to God from self (repentance) and trusting Christ to come into our lives to forgive our sins and to make us what He wants us to be. Just to agree intellectually that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died on the cross for our sins is not enough. Nor is it enough to have an emotional experience. We receive Jesus Christ by faith, as an act of the will.

You Can Receive Christ Right Now by Faith through Prayer

God knows your heart and is not as concerned with your words as He is with the attitude of your heart. The following is a suggested prayer:

Lord Jesus, I need You. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of the throne of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.

Does this prayer express the desire of your heart? If it does, I invite you to pray this prayer right now, and Christ will come into your life, as He promised.

My Sweet Little Boy Walter Jared

When my two-year old son died in a vehicular accident, a vital and core part of me has been ripped away and died as well. There is an empty place in my heart that could never be filled up knowing that I would never be able to live with or share my love openly with my son, Walter Jared. Walter’s sudden death was an incredibly traumatic event and I was forced to confront an exceedingly painful and stressful paradox. I have to deal with the contradictory burden of wanting to be free of this overwhelming pain yet needing the memories as a reminder of my precious child. I cannot just tie my neck and stop breathing even how badly I need to end the pain. I still need to continue to live our own lives as fully as possible for our two remaining children.

Nothing has prepared me for the enormity or catastrophe of the grief. When grief hits me, I just let my tears flow and feel the intensity of the pain and the longing for my son’s warm embrace and wet kisses. Words are not enough to express how much I miss my son. I am constantly holding on to those precious memories we have shared together to fill the untold emptiness and lighten the deep emotional hurt.

I keep my life very simple and just focus on getting through each day at a time. As I continue my life’s journey, I have great hope that God will provide me the ways to get through my grief and healing will come eventually.
